Turquoise, which is rare on Earth, has been valued for thousands of years due to its unique color. Because turquoise goes so well with yellow and white gold, Rolex chose it for its distinctive, uncommon blue color and elegant structure. It is only applicable to Day-Date 36 gold or platinum models.
